Let’s Roll
Short comedy: 6 min. writer, director, producer, lead
LOGLINE: A lady on rollerblades disrupts the status quo in order to save others from a life of conformity.
Directors Statement: This story is based on my lived experience during one of the most bizarre times in my lifetimes history; the pandemic. As a way to cope with the overwhelming stress of being a single parent of a then 6th grader dealing with job loss/uncertainty etc (like many of us), I picked up dance rollerblading through my neighborhood. I always struggled with low self confidence and self esteem. I used rollerblading through the neighborhood as a way to "let go, not give a rat's a$$ what anyone thought of me and build the self confidence of an ice skating champion." True story, a cyclist did in fact tell me that "I looked like an idiot" as he rode off in his man cyclist spandex. Everyone copes with stress in different ways. Today, I am grateful for that man.
